Triathlon and stuff....

Well, I have really been avoiding posting because I have really been in a funk mood wise. I am maintaining- plus or minus about 3-4 lbs. Ugh.

I had a good time in Vegas... I will post some pictures soon.

I completed my triathlon! It went better than I expected...
If I had a better bike (even just a road bike of any type vs. my crappy mountain bike), I would have improved my bike time by a lot, and my overall time as well. Don't get me wrong, I am happy with my time- and although I could have trained harder, I still trained enough and I finished the tri and had fun doing it! Oh, and it was a sprint distance which means it was a 1/2 mile swim, 12 mile bike ride and 3 mile run. I did manage to run the whole 3 miles- slowly but I did it!

Congratulations #1752, JENNY STEELE!
Here are your results for the 2011 Danskin SEATTLE
Triathlon:

Swim00:22:11
Bike01:03:23
Run00:40:59
Total02:18:54

You finished 34 out of 51 in your class ATHENA.

**FYI- the Athena class is for women who weigh over 150lbs.
Next time I'll probably just go with my age group vs. weight
group.

I will be back to post more soon. I have a feeling I'm going to
need some extra help with my mood/feelings- I'm having a hard
time right now, some more medical bills came in the mail (kinda
big ones) from my band removal and it just kinda sent me
spinning that I have to pay these bills for something that I didn't
even want to have happen (band removal)... it just sucks and I'm
trying not to be too emotional but I've had some issues with just
crying over the smallest things for the past few days. I have a
doctor's appointment on Thursday so I'll be able to talk to Dr. Julie
about all of it soon.

I'm trying to keep up on blogs too...

sorry for the lack of comments these days...

I love you guys!

  1. Congratulations on a tremendous achievement. You are a true inspiration to us all!!

I am thinking of you I cannot even imagine the depression I would be in if my band had to be removed.

Try to remain positive. I hope your Dr's appointment goes well.

  2. Congrats on completing your Triathlon. I'm so proud of you.

The feelings you are having about your band removal and the bills that have followed are normal. You have a right to be emotional. I say embrace the emotions and let them drive you to your happy place.

A lyric from a song I listen too says that "crying is like taking your soul to the laundromat." Sometime we need to clean our soul. So cry...holler, scream, kick something...just do Jen.

    Love ya

  5. Congratulations on the triathlon! What an achievement!

Try not to get too hung up on the medical bill thing. I know it's an aspect we don't like to deal with and I can only imagine how emotional it is to get that reminder in the mail. Hang in there!

  6. Oh you poor dear, I'm so sorry that this happened to you. Hang in there, you've been through so much. I totally understand how that would make you feel to not only have to go through it, but then to have to pay for it too! You rock on the triathalon. I'm really proud of you!!!

  14. I am sorry that you are feeling so down right now friend...

    BUT....

you are missing something great! YOU FINISHED A FREAKING TRIATHOLON! How many of us have done that? It scares the shit out of me just thinking about it. I am so proud of you that you went and did it and made it across that line. You did that all without a band. You did that through your own hard work and determination. You could have let yourself chicken out or just give up...but you didnt. Therefore my dear...you are stronger than you believe!!!

    I think its awesome!

  15. I am so with Dawnya... read her comment and that's what I think!!
And you are AWESOME to do the Triathlon....

What's the story with your weight loss surgery doc? Will they consider a sleeve or another intervention for you if you continue to struggle? I know you must heal... but I just want to see you get any help you need if you need it.
    hugs

  16. WOW! I am blown away by your triathlon results! I have never really told anyone, but that is a secret desire of mine. I love to ride and swim (I hate running) and I tell myself that someday I'll do one. Maybe when I turn 40...

Anyways...you are AMAZING and AWESOME! You're so nonchalant about the whole thing like it was no big deal!

I'm sorry about the medical bills and having to lose your band. Keep us posted after your follow-up.
