yay! yay! yay!

obviously, I finally have some good news! My appointment went very well today. My doctor said my infection culture test came back and it isn't any kind of super crazy- non fixable (think MRSA) infection but a run of the mill kind that is easily killed by antibiotics and I am on the exact right ones to kick the crap out of this infection. oh, and they already are! He said my incision looks great and I've been doing a very good job of keeping it clean, drained and doing all that he asked. I went all day yesterday without taking any pain meds and I felt pretty okay. I had a hard time sleeping last night but it was fine I eventually fell asleep and got good rest.
Interestingly enough I did find out something new about my wound today- I was under the impression that this wound was maybe one or two inches deep- I really looked that way to me when I was cleaning it and taking care of it- however the dr. was cleaning it today and he took one of those q-tips on a long stick to do what ever he was going to do and I kid you not he was holding the end of it with his fingers and the rest of it disappeared into my incision! seriously like 5 or 6 inches!! I couldn't watch any more. I had no idea! Anyway he got a little extra fluid out, and bandaged me back up. He thinks the infection will be gone within a week or so and that my wound will then heal in another week or so. he packed it again with some type of gauze wick thing (to keep it from closing up/give any additional fluid an exit) so I go back Friday for my next check up. He asked if I had any questions so of course I did. I asked when I could start exercising again- he said ease back in to it in about another week or so. I also asked him if I could still be ready for my triathlon in August and he said no problem! I am so happy to hear that :) And finally I asked when I could return to work- he really wanted me to take another week off, but asked when I thought I might be ready to go back- I said well I think I am ready to go back tomorrow! I just wasn't sure if I'd have enough energy for a full day- so he had a great idea and gave me clearance to go back to work for half days for the first week, and up to two weeks if I need. I think after a couple of days I'll be ready for full days again. I am so looking forward to getting back to work, back to my routine and being a part of something- sitting at home sick is definitely something that I am not good at.

Okay, so one more thing, I definitely saved the best for last today..... drum rolll please, this afternoon when I weighed in for my appointment the scale read 188.8!!!!!!!!!! yes!yes!yes!yes!yeeeeesssssssss!!!!! hellow 180somethings :) I DESERVE YOU!!! 7. Oh and make sure you take it easy. I went back to work too quickly after my port relocation and I ended up not being able to exercise for longer than I wanted. Take it super easy!
