So yeah, especially sandwich bread and pizza. I've had two close calls with being stuck, even the last episode I described was not actually being stuck. I just thought it was. Today I truly experienced "stuck". I was at work today because our school hosted a leadership retreat for the middle school ASB students. As co-advisor this year(yay!) I was there with our kids and helping the leadership kids from CHS by being thier go-fer. Anyway, of course we had pizza for lunch, because a.) it is cheap and b.) all kids seem to love pizza! so anyway, by the time lunch rolled around I was starving (I'm sure you can see where I am headed). I contemplated only eating the toppings, but decided since I had a slice recently with out a problem that it would be fine to have one today. WRONG! I took a big bite, barely chewed, swallowed. Well I use the term swallowed loosely, because it only went down halfway. An advisor from another school was telling me about some activities they were doing at her school. I tried to mask the pain I was feeling, my eyes were watering and I kept trying not to just throw up on her or belching... finally I just said I'm sorry I have to excuse myself and I ran (after I got around the corner from her) out side. I stopped by the flower bed and spit out a bunch of saliva and foam- that bite wasn't budging. I made my way to a staff restroom where I was miserable for about 20 minutes. I only ended up eating 2 bites of pizza for lunch.
Such a learning experience! So here is what I know- my best choice is to avoid bread/pizza crust/chewy things. If I absolutely feel like I must indulge it is imparative that I take very small slow bites- no matter how hungry I am.
For the next couple of days I'm going to take it easy, eat soft and mushy foods to let my poor esophagus recover. oh, and I'm going to be practicing taking my time and taking tiny little...
So until next time, I am working for no more episodes of being stuck... I am working on drinking more water/liquid and keeping my calories under 1200. Oh, and that pesky thing we call exercise. 4 times per week. I got two done this week. Gotta get on track. Have to exercise in the morning tomorrow and Friday if I am going to meet my goal.
Happy Eating Friends!

I know how incredibly busy you are and how easy it is to forget to eat throughout the day but I think now is a good time to...PUT YOURSELF FIRST! The last 2 episodes you have had you have been helping others, and were not thinking about what is best for you. Time to start doing that, I am no lap band expert but I am thinking more frequent smaller meals will help you. Time to put Jen first!
