...I can jog a 5k!
So today was the big day- St. Paddy's Dash here in Seattle. I got up at the crack of dawn to get down there, found great parking, the sun was shining, it was perfect! I ended up being in the last wave to start. I passed a bunch of walkers in the leg that started before mine, and that felt pretty good. I was able to snap a few photos along the way and I made a VLOG when I got back to my car. I didn't have a timing chip, but by my analog watch it was pretty much 50 minutes on the dot. I wanted to finish in under an hour and jog the whole way- I met both goals! I am so glad to be back to running, I am going to continue training and I will be doing more 5k's- I'll definitely be posting about it as they come up. I'm also feeling like a half marathon would be a good goal for me to look at right now too. I'm going to see what is coming up at the end of summer, maybe fall for that one.
Here are some photos, and of course at the end is my post dash VLOG.... enjoy!
about 7:30am (due to daylight savings it actually felt like 6:30am)
my ode to spring picture... this is on a star magnolia tree- they bloom right around my birthday every year, one of my favorites!
I think this is Green Lake and I think I took the picture from the Aurora bridge... I'm not very knowlegeable about Seattle places though. This was right before the turnaround...

Holy Macaroni..you rock.. 50 minutes.. I am super impressed.. love the pictures and you are just glowing in your vlog.. very motivating.. I have an opportunity to do a 5K in October..your accomplishment may just be my motivation.. great job.. love your little hair glitter..
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!! Such a great accomplishment!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great time for 5k. Glad the weather was nice. It's spring--a happy time.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! I think I will take up your goal of a 5K in under an hour! Stay tuned for details.
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! Great accomplishment
ReplyDeleteI can't wait until I can run. Right now it's too hard on my knees, but I used to really like running when I weighed less. That time will come again - hopefully sooner than later. Congrats on a great run!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh! DAMMIT! You don't even know HOW bummed I was this morning! I wouldn't shut up about it to my husband. I unfortunately went to the doctor on Friday and got the no-no for running/working out for a week since I have a pretty bad sprain in my foot. It was such a gorgeous morning and I was so wanting to be out there running (how crazy is that?!). I'm so glad that you did well! 50 minutes so beats your 1 hour time goal you gave yourself (and you probably would have left me in the dust anyways!).
ReplyDeleteI'll email you tomorrow from work!
Congrats what a greta job!!! That is amazing

ReplyDeleteYou're a stud!
