greetings from Mexico!

Saturday already? Can't believe I've been here 4 days already! I'm posting a few pictures, not really great ones of me but still...

I am proud to say I have offically finished week 3 workouts for C25k this week and I'll be starting on Week 4 either tomorrow or Monday. I have done some walking or other exercise on everyday that I have been here. I have also limited my alcohol consumption. It has been great to be the first one up, out exercising and ready to go for the day while my sister is nursing her hangover from too much tequila.

The first day we were here it was a bit overcast, so we didn't really do much other than settle in and have a couple of drinks by the pool. Day 2 we hung out by the pool/beach all day I finished book #1. All I can say is my sister has no concept of leaving a person alone when they are reading a good book- she kept interrupting my reading to have me people watch with her or ask an annoying question, like "are you hungry?", no I'm not hungry, I'm trying to read my book, if I were hungry I'd just go get something to eat right? So if you are hungry go get something, but please just let me read!
Day 3- sun came out! whoo hoo! but it was windy too. We lounged some more, mostly on the beach at the hotel cabanas. We also played volleyball and took a kayak out for an hour. We paddled way out to an island where we saw a bunch of pelicans, herons and crabs crawling all over the rocks. It was pretty cool. I got a little sunburt- maybe my sunscreen isn't waterproof, but I applied it a few times so I was surprised how red my legs and arms got. Last night we went downtown with some other people we met at the hotel, a group of guys who are from Mexico. Right now in Mazatlan they are celebrating "Carnival" it is like Mardi Gras. Most tourists don't get to go so it was pretty neat that we met some nice guys who were willing to take us down there and show us around. It was a big street fair, lots of great music, food(I didn't eat any though), carnival games, vendors- good times!
Today I haven't done much. I'm about half way through book #3, but the weather is overcast and windy again so I decided to take a break and catch up on my blog.

I think my food choices are ok so far, and I'm glad that I've been keeping up on exercise. I'll be so happy if I haven't gained this week.

It looks like blogger is having a hard time uploading my pictures, so I guess I'll have to post them later....

  3. so far I've read sTORI Telling by Tori Spelling, Readicide by Kelly Gallagher (about motivating kids to read and improve reading skills at the same time) and TWEAK by Nic Sheff (a memoir of his battle with heroin and meth addiction). Tomorrow I am starting a book of short stories called It's not always Happily Ever After (lessons in family life by the students of John Marshall and American Indian Heritage School in Seattle). I prefer non fiction, short stories, biographies, true crime and educational reading (Readicide for example). I also really enjoy the weekly gossip magazines... I read those on the plane! :)
